Wei Yeng Yeong
Are you fond of animals? Have you ever dreamt of being a veterinarian? Do you know CityU is the only university in Asia that offers Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) programme? Yeong Wei Yeng from Malaysia has a dream of becoming a veterinarian and helping animals in need!
“Although I don’t know what the future holds, my main goal is to provide quality care. As a future veterinarian, I want to be able to educate clients about basic animal health and prevent disease in companion animals. I also hope to research on preventive medicine and wildlife conservation to advance animal health,” said Wei Yeng, a final year BVM student.
“With dual accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in the UK and from the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) in the programme, graduates like me can pursue their dream jobs across the globe. CityU also provided ample research opportunities, networking connections with professionals in the field and constant reassurance of my physical and mental health – thus I always know who to reach out to when I need help. “
Wei Yeng is also thankful to the people she met in the department as well as the CityU community. “The last 5 years of veterinary education have been surreal. Since the beginning of clinical rotations, it became clear to me the ability and obligation a vet has in advocating animal health and preventing or relieving animal suffering. This year has been filled with excitement, anticipation, uncertainty and anxiousness. However, I am forever grateful that there are always people who patiently guide me through the ups and downs,” Wei Yeng shared.
